Tuesday, June 14: Brute Heart

Le Voyeur Cafe and Lounge

By Rev. Adam McKinney on June 8, 2011

There's a delicate balance that is struck with Brute Heart: feathery violin and vocals are buoyed by a strumming bass line and skipping drums. The combination at times reaches a hypnotic hum, and at other times approaches a rousing folk backbeat. What most often reaches the forefront is this intriguing amalgam of Eastern mysticism and Western energy. These ingredients make the perfect kind of sound to commit oneself to on a contemplative evening, all sounds mixing and bleeding into one another through the focused waves of the earphones, lulling one into a daze that has the ability to eat away an hour of life. Brute Heart has the ability to create missing hours, which is something one seldom finds, short of alien abductions.
