Friday, Nov. 15: Drunken Telegraph #6: Clash of the Titans

Broadway Center's Studio III

By Volcano Staff on November 11, 2013

Forget the booing, hissing, cursing and projectile throwing that characterized slam poetry events in the early 1990s. Despite its name, Drunken Telegraph isn't that kind of spoken word event. The storytelling series that borrows its name from a travel piece novelist Rudyard Kipling wrote about debauchery he witnessed in Tacoma in 1889 asks the public to share something that happened to him or her around the theme "Clash of the Titans," specifically metaphoric tales of slaying dragons, wrestling bears and finding courage. If a tale includes a recount of slicing off a snake-coiffed noggin from the shoulders of an evil temptress ... well, what are going to do? The event is part of the Broadway Center's continuing Tacoma Free for All series.

DRUNKEN TELEGRAPH #6: CLASH OF THE TITANS, 7:30 p.m., Broadway Center's Studio III, 915 Broadway, Tacoma, free admission, drunkentelegraph.com
