Carmen cowgirls up

It seems like yesterday when I was at the Ellensburg Rodeo.

It never ceases to amaze me how quickly time flies.

I swear it was just yesterday that I was stringing together the stories (at least the ones I can remember) about the Ellensburg Rodeo for this column, but it wasn’t yesterday, it was a full year ago.

That’s right, ’tis the season for Natasha and I to head over the mountain and coast into her college town for this boot-scootin’ bash.

And thanks to Renton Western Wear, I’m sure to lasso a cowboy or two this year.

I can’t wait to honky tonk it up in the adorable vintage western shirts and boots that I scored over the weekend, and to party on down with the mix of college friends and Eburg locals that know and love Natasha.

This year we’ll be crashing with Best Friend Joy and her recently appointed husband, Ben, although we’re really not planning on getting much sleep at all between dancing, the rodeo parade, partying Behind the Chutes, the Extreme Bullriding Competition, a huge barbecue at the Tate house and plenty of all-day, night and after-hours drinking sessions.

The best part is that by the time you read this, we’ll already be there, cuz we departed on Wednesday and we’re staying until Tuesday. Giddy up!

So be sure to tune in next week to find out how your very own Carmen cowgirled up.

Cowgirl and The Indian

Last Wednesday I headed to the Sea Grill to catch dinner with The Indian. Each of us who joined the ranks of the Business Examiner’s 2008 40 Under 40 class scored gift certificates to Sea Grill and El Gaucho, and I couldn’t wait to use mine. We had a tasty dinner and the environment and staff there were lively and jovial. After dinner, we huddled up at the bar to hang out with bartender Theresa, such a sweet pea. There’s really nothing like sitting in that bar and relaxing while the world passes you by on Pacific Avenue below. Thank you for the 40 Under 40 love, Sea Grill!

A little bit country and rock and roll

Thursday, Natasha and I ran directly to the Top of Tacoma for their rock show that featured Pioneers: West, Trip the Light Fantastic and The Dirty Knockers. There were so many amazing friends in that packed house, and the bands made the night a complete success. As the Dirty Knockers were performing, I was resting my back against one of the booths there and the vibrations from the pulsing music offered one of the best massages I’ve had in a long time in that booth. Sweet!

The Mix – Yee Haw!

Saturday I headed to The Mix to hang out with My Gay Husband. While there, we flirted with Jonathan and Robby who were mixing our drinks, people we’re loving on MGH’s shirt (of course), we talked about the restaurants in town that we love and we told dirty little stories that aren’t fit for print.

I know that the following statement should be obvious, but I really have to say it: I love My Gay Husband.

Tell me where you like to party at permanentlipstick@hotmail.com.
