DJ Qualifi's International Reggae Night at Champions Sports Bar has been crackin' for some time, drawing crowds from Seattle to Olympia and even further out. The St. Dominica-native prides himself on delivering the sounds of the Caribbean, South/Central America and Africa in a weekly Saturday night excursion that is more an experience than just another night at the bar. Tucked cozily just outside Lakewood's International District, Champions is not hard to find, but like most who attend International Reggae Night, it may be hard to avoid once the "riddims" hit. While DJ Qualifi's residencies and appearances range from Vancouver, B.C., Seattle and on international airwaves, he remains Tacoma's reigning soundman of reggae/dancehall.
