Grab a blanket and head out to enjoy free entertainment at local parks

Few things beats a beautiful Pacific Northwest summer evening spent at a local park listening to music, watching movies and other entertainment varieties. We're talking a full picnic dinner, blankets, chairs and the whole family out to enjoy the festivities. If you agree and are looking to spend an evening as such, here is where local entertainment in the park is happening this summer. 

City of DuPont's Concerts in the Park at the Clocktower Park is a great place to start. On select Thursdays and kicking off during the DuPont Farmers Market from 6:30 to 8 p.m. the concerts in the park are free and fun for the whole family. The current line-up is: 

July 11 Platinum Soul - R&B/Soul

July 18 Wally & The Beaves - Rock & Roll hits from the 50's-80's 

July 25 Island Breeze - Hawaiian dancers 

Aug. 1 America's First Corps Band - Bigfoot Brass Band 

Aug. 8 Danny Vernon - Tribute to Elvis Presley 

Aug. 15 America's First Corps Band - Evergreen Rock Band

Aug. 29 Slainte - Irish Rock Band 

Lacey in Tune is another opportunity to soak up entertainment in the park. Located at Huntamer Park, Lacey in Tune offers three days of fun each week.

Starting Tuesday, July 9 and running every Tuesday through Aug. 13 at 6:30 p.m. the Children's Entertainment Series includes a pirate show, magician, The Reptile Man and so much more.

The Wednesday Noon Concert Series runs July 10 through Aug. 14. The current lineup is:

July 10 Washington National Guard: Full Metal Racket - Rock

July 17 Freckles Brown Band - PNW Soft Rock, Country

July 24 Bobby Medina - Latin American Jazz Experience

July 31 Hot Rooster Band - Charlie Daniels Country Rock Tribute

July 31 bonus concert at 6:30 p.m. featuring Wally & the Beaves - Oldies

Aug. 7 Backlash - Classic Rock, Country & Blues

Aug. 14 Gothard Sisters - Celtic-influenced Folk

The last of the series will be the Friday Concerts and Movies at the Park starting July 19 through Aug. 9. These evenings will start off with a rotation of food trucks at 6 p.m. followed by concerts at 7 p.m. and then movies at dusk. Some of the concerts will include Credence Revelation, Mick Hart Band and more. The movie series includes Super Mario Bros. Movie, Wonka, Barbie and more. Movies will be projected on an 18ft screen and families are encouraged to bring their own seating. Go to https://laceyparks.org for updates.

The  City of Lakewood's Summer Nights at the Pavilion Concerts happening at Fort Steilacoom Park on Tuesdays is another great family outing to add to your summer line-up. Starting every Tuesday (excluding July 16 and 23) families can set-up lawn chairs and blankets and listen to a 90-minute set ending at 8 p.m. These concerts are free, family-friendly, and a great opportunity to grab dinner at the Farmers Market and then catch a show.
