Saturday, June 29
After a hiatus the last few years, Joint Base Lewis-McChord's Freedom Fest will be returning this year. The celebration is open to the public and will take place on Saturday, June 29 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. Celebrate the Fourth of July with the Tacoma Rainiers! Their July 3 firework show is their biggest and best of the season. Come early to join the pre-game festivities and then catch a game of baseball at 6:05 p.m. vs Salt Lake. Plan to stay till the end to catch their amazing firework show. For over 50 years and counting Lacey Parks and Recreation has celebrated the Fourth of July a day early on July 3 with a huge party. Hosted at Rainier Vista Park in Lacey, the celebration kicks off at 4 p.m. with food, music and fun. Families can head to the Kid Zone for family fun, including live Circus Shows at 4:30, 6 and 8 p.m. Tons of food vendors will feature such as OlymPITA, Fat Zach's Pizza, Camper's Coffee, Tacos California and more. At 5 p.m. attendees can enjoy live music from BrickHouse, followed by Mr.Pink at 8 p.m. Then at 10 p.m. the fireworks show will begin. The parking lot at Rainier Vista will open at 3 p.m., but space is limited. Free shuttle buses will be available from Timberline High School, Komachin Middle School and Lakes Elementary. Thursday, July 4
The City of Dupont will have a jam packed Independence Day, kicking off at 8 a.m. with the Historical Society's pancake breakfast at the Clocktower Park. This will be followed by the Independence Day Parade at 10 a.m. Participants that want to walk or ride bikes in the parade are free and are encouraged to deck out their bikes, wagons and selves to march along in the festivities. Following the parade, at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Clocktower Park celebration continues with music, food, games, vendors and more. The celebration will conclude with fireworks at Patriots Landing, kicking off at dusk. Bring a chair or blanket outside of Patriots Landing and find a seat to take in the amazing show. The City of Steilacoom will also be hosting a full day of independence fun. Leading up to their big fireworks show will be a parade - including the kids bike parade - a street fair, live music and a beer garden. The night will conclude with the spectacular firework show beginning at approximately 10:30 p.m. Don't miss out on a full family day in Steilacoom.
The City of Tumwater will be hosting their 36th annual Tumwater Independence Day celebrations. Their parade will kick off at 11 a.m. on the corner of Capitol Blvd. and Lee St. and will move south on Capitol Blvd. to Israel Rd. A festival will take place later on beginning at 6 p.m. at the Tumwater Valley Golf Course Driving Range, which will include music, food, vendors, games and more. Later in the evening at 10:15 p.m. the Tumwater Thunder Valley Fireworks show will take place.
Metro Parks Tacoma's Summer Blast 4th of July celebration will be back this year on the Ruston Way waterfront. The event will kick off at noon and will take place at Dune Peninsula and Cummings Park. Both food and craft vendors will be at both locations, as well as a beer garden for everyone 21+. The Kids Zone will be at Cummings Park and will include a bounce house, inflatable obstacle course, basketball, other interactive games and much more. The evening will end with a firework show on Commencement Bay at approximately 10 p.m. and will be visible all along the Ruston Way waterfront. It's important to note that Ruston Way and Yacht Club Road will be closed to traffic the entire duration of the day. For more information, go to https://www.metroparkstacoma.org/event/summerblast/.
For those willing to brave the traffic and travel outside of the local area, the Amazon Seafair Celebration will be hosted at both Gas Works Park and South Lake Union Park in Seattle. One firework display, voted one of the best in the nation by USA Today, will be visible from both parks. Gates open at 3 p.m. and the big, spectacular show will begin around 10:15 p.m. Prior to the show both parks will feature different activities and food and drink options. Reserved seating and parking is an option for guaranteed viewing of the shows. For those not participating in reserved seating, it is recommended to arrive at the celebration early to secure seating and parking.
If you're unable to make it up to the event, it will be broadcasted on KONG from 9 to 11 p.m.
